There’s a lot in here that resonates, and some that does not. I’m in total agreement with “Snakeoil Salesmen and Their ‘New Ideas’” — every year its a new approach that seems distressingly like an approach that was in use twenty years ago, or worse, one that has already been proven to be problematic or counterproductive. I teach in an independent school, so the bureaucracy and testing isn’t nearly so bad, but the continuing imperative to innovate at the expense of practical pedagogy with proven track records is maddening.
